Principal's Corner
Arrowhead Families,
I will be writing a principal letter in every other Hawk Herald, on odd-numbered months, so that I can focus my time on supporting students and staff. Balancing the district budget has resulted in class sizes that are maxed out or overloaded, and our Mid-Level Blended special education programs are extremely overloaded.
Arrowhead staff are very good at centering children and making sure we’re putting our energy and time into things that matter. We are so grateful that you stand with us as we let go of things that don’t directly impact our children.
See you in November!
Kristin

- Schedule haircuts 7-10 days prior to picture day!

New Process for Reporting an Absence: 4 Simple Steps
We have a new, easy way for families to let our school know when their student is absent! While we know regular attendance is one of the most powerful ways to prepare your student for success, we also know that sometimes students must miss school for a variety of reasons. Next time that happens for your family, let us know throughParentVUE:
- Login toParentVUE
- Click the “Report Absence” button next to the name of your absent student
- Fill in the fields with the date(s) of the absence and provide an explanation
- Click to submit, automatically notifying the school of the absence
Learn more or view step-by-step images and instructions. You can use this method to report an absence of up to 4 days. As a reminder, an absence of 5 days or longer requires families to submit aNotice of Pre-Arranged Extended Absence Form.

All NSD schools are implementing a new process for validating visitors and volunteers on campus through SafeVisitor Solutions.SafeVisitorSolutions is a cutting edge visitor management system developed specifically for K-12 schools and also used by districts in our surrounding area and theonly one integrated with an international background screening company.
Please plan a few extra minutes the next time you are campus to volunteer or visit for us to print your visitor badge. You will be asked for your license. We can also access your information with your name and birthdate. For people who visit/volunteer frequently, we will save your badge in a ticket holder to reuse. Health Screening Day
Our school wide health screening day is Thursday Oct. 10th (K - 3, and 5th grades).
If you would like to opt-out your student from vision and/or hearing screening and have not already reached out, please contact Nurse Anne.
School health screening is state mandated and is done to identify students who may benefit from a more in-depth exam from a provider, it is similar to the screening done at well child Dr. visits. If your student is already followed by a vision or hearing provider and has had an exam in the last 6-12 months, it may not be necessary to do this screening at school, it is your choice.
Medication at School:
Any medicine your student may need during the school day, must be discussed with the nurse. Please do not put any kind of medicine, including over the counter products, in your child's lunch box, backpack, or pockets.Any medicine, supplements or over the counter products must always be brought to school by an adult and accompanied with completed paperwork. Please call the nurse if you have any questions.
